IEEE SENSORS is the flagship conference of the IEEE Sensors Council, an organization currently consisting of 25 IEEE member societies. IEEE SENSORS 2017 held in Glasgow SECC, showcased high quality technical presentations on a broad range of multidisciplinary topics related to sensors and sensor applications and set a new attendance record of 932 attendees and over 995 abstracts from 57 different countries.
Allan James commented: “IEEE was a very well-attended, vibrant event and it was encouraging to see so many talented young engineers and researchers coming to Glasgow, itself a seat of historical, scientific and engineering excellence.”
Allan was particularly impressed by the quality and quantity of the academic poster exhibition – many of them targeted at addressing societal and environmental needs through the use of advanced semiconductor and MEMS sensor technologies & the Internet of Things which bodes well for the future.
It was an honour for Semefab, the only indigenous Scottish MEMS foundry and Semiconductor device manufacturer, to be invited to attend by Prof. Deepak Uttamchandani, Vice President of IEEE Sensors Council and Professor of Electronic and Electrical Engineering at Strathclyde University. Semefab supported the event with an exhibition stand and became Silver Sponsors.
It was a great privilege to be representing the Scottish face of the semiconductor industry at such a prestigious event.
