We have an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Process Engineer to join our established Process Engineering team. This is a newly created role which may suit a recent graduate.

The role
We are keen to hear from candidates who have experience or knowledge of: materials, Photolithography, Etch, Diffusion, PVD, CVD, etc.  Joining as a key member of a small but experienced team, you will be responsible for defining and developing new products in a clean room environment, working directly with our engineering team and customers. Testing and characterisation of prototype devices will be required as well as liaison with external subcontractors and partners.

You will implement product improvement projects aimed at improving yield, ease of manufacture, processing cost, throughput time and process capability, which achieve customers’ performance criteria. In addition you will develop, test and characterise processes as well as documenting the processes and contributing to the technology documentation. 

The person

You must be self-motivated, with a strong work ethic, capable of working well on your own and as part of a team. You will have the ability to multi task and prioritise your workload as well as having an organised, analytical and problem solving approach to work.

You will be enthusiastic and reliable with the ability to make decisions and learn new tasks quickly. You will be willing to take on additional responsibilities and have a desire to get the job done within tight deadlines. The ability to communicate effectively at all levels is essential as are excellent IT skills.

Experience and Skills
Successful candidates will have:

  • Degree or PhD qualified in Electronics / Electrical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry or a Materials science.
  • Technically competent with a thorough understanding of semiconductor physics essential.
  • Will suit a recent graduate since training will be provided where necessary to acquire some of the specialist skills and knowledge required to fulfil this vacancy.
  • Must be eligible to work in the UK.

Semefab is a silicon wafer foundry operation manufacturing microelectronics and Micro Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS) based in Glenrothes. We have expanded with the addition of a new 150mm wafer fab. Working globally, we export approximately 75% of our products for the automotive, telecommunications, security, industrial, consumer and medical markets.
